"Society" Category Ceremony in Santo Domingo

The first event of the International Sustainable Development Film Festival 2026 took place in Santo Domingo, featuring the inspiring "Society" category!

This section of the competition showcased 16 remarkable short films, tackling a wide range of social issues — health, identity, road safety, cultural and historical awareness, inequality, harassment, female genital mutilation, and many more.

Chaired by Eddy Costi, faced the difficult task of selecting the winners among works that were both creatively daring — telenovela parodies, experimental forms, and cultural investigations set in Vietnam — and deeply thoughtful in their social messages.

Awards – "Society" Category

"Planet" Category Ceremony in Phnom Penh

On May 19, the "Planet" category of the International Sustainable Development Film Festival 2026 was celebrated in Phnom Penh, during a wonderful event organised by Kay-Joua Moua. It was a highlight of the festival, showcasing our students' creativity and ecological awareness.

This section brought together 12 films from schools across Asia, exploring many facets of the relationship between humans and nature: pollution, consumption, biodiversity, climate change, sustainable agriculture, and ecosystem protection.

The jury was impressed by the richness of approaches and the quality of the filmmaking — blending documentaries, animations, poetic or humorous fiction — beautifully capturing the sensitivity and commitment of young filmmakers facing the major environmental challenges of our time.

• 🏅 3rd place: Kaze No Sasayaki (Japan)

"Peace" Category Ceremony in Hanoi – May 19, 2026

On May 19, in Hanoi, the International Sustainable Development Film Festival 2026 celebrated the "Peace" category, bringing together powerful and moving short films on more political themes — reminding us, in these troubled times, of our youth's aspiration to live in a more peaceful and open world.

This section of the festival honoured seven remarkable films, exploring deep themes such as memory, conflict, reconciliation, exile, resilience, human dignity, intercultural dialogue, and the importance of preserving peace in today's world.

Through varied forms — documentaries, fiction, or poetic narratives — the young filmmakers demonstrated great creativity and a genuine awareness of contemporary issues.

The jury was particularly impressed by the maturity of the reflections, the emotional power of the films, and the students' ability to connect past events to the current realities experienced by many populations around the world. Selecting the winners from so many sincere and committed works was a true challenge.

Impact Ceremony at LFI Tokyo!

The Impact section is dedicated to short films — under four minutes — carrying a powerful message on the major issues of our time. Although the category had fewer participants this year, the quality of the works presented impressed the jury: concise yet hard-hitting films, capable of captivating and provoking thought in just a few moments.

Among them:

Aime, danse, protège — a true poetic manifesto for the planet and its protection, celebrating the vital link between the joy of living and the preservation of our environment.

Plastik — a striking film that powerfully reminds us that seemingly harmless actions, like throwing away a simple plastic bottle, can have serious consequences.

Les petits gestes comptent — from France, this short film raises awareness about responsible water management, a precious resource we must learn to preserve every day.

But it was the films tackling the theme of harassment that particularly won over the jury this year:

• 🥈 The Silver Award was given to Skirt, a sensitive and courageous work about street harassment, driven by a striking mise-en-scène.
• 🥇 The Golden Award goes to Laisser Tomber, a poignant music clip about school bullying, whose emotional power and sincerity deeply moved both the audience and the jury.

These short but essential films prove that the impact of a message does not depend on its length, and that in just a few minutes, cinema can truly move minds and hearts.

A wonderful promise for future editions of the festival, where the creativity of young filmmakers continues to innovate… and inspire.

Youth Ceremony in Canton — May 28, 2026

The Youth category of the Festival revealed the full creativity and sensitivity of the youngest filmmakers in the French high school network worldwide. Between poetry, commitment, and reflection, their films tell, with sincerity and imagination, the great challenges of our planet.

These three films, through their evocative power and sincerity, remind us that young people's cinema is a remarkable laboratory of ideas and emotions. Through their children's eyes, we glimpse the promise of a more conscious, more just, and more poetic world.
